Emotional Support Steve is a solar and thermal nail lacquer that shifts from periwinkle blue (cold) to pink (warm) and various shades of purple in the sun / direct UV light, with green to turquoise to blue shifting shimmer.

Swatches shown include indoor settings under UV lighting as well as outside in direct light, with varying number of coats.

Solar nail lacquers will change colors in sun light. As such, there are a lot of variables that factor into those changes. The transition can depend on the intensity of direct sunlight (just like thermal nail lacquers depend on body temperature). There can be a range of shade changes depending on light intensity levels; the brighter the sun, the more dramatic the transition.

Additionally, the pigments used to the create these effects are delicate and sensative to extreme temperatures. This is especially true when they are in transit. Leaving these nail lacauers in either very hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time can alter their transtition abilites. To increase the longevity of solar nail lacquers transition capabilities, it is recommended to keep them in a cool, dark location with consistent temperatures.

The transition of solar nail lacquers can also be effected by top coats that contain UV absorbers (etocrylene AND benzophenone) which can block sunlight and will diminish the effectiveness of their transitition capabilites.
